SING IT LOUD, SING IT PROUD COMPETITION RULES

To be eligible to enter the Neo Africa Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud competition, you must comply with the following rules:

• You must be aged 16 years or over

• You must be a South African citizen

• You must know the full lyrics of the South African national anthem, and sing the full anthem in your entry

• You may not be an employee of Neo Africa, its subsidiaries nor any agency doing work on behalf of Neo Africa

SING IT LOUD, SING IT PROUD COMPETITION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. COMPETITION NAME


Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud


2. OPENING AND CLOSING DATES FOR ENTRIES

Entries for the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud competition commence at 8am (GMT+2 hours) on 26 April 2010, and close at 6pm (GMT+2 hours) on 23 May 2010.


3. ENTRANT ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to enter the competition, entrants must meet the following criteria:

• Entrants must be aged 16 years or over

• Entrants must be a South African citizen

• Entrants must know the full lyrics of the South African national anthem, and sing the full anthem in their entry

• Entrants may not be an employee of Neo Africa, its subsidiaries nor any agency doing work on behalf of Neo Africa


4. METHODS OF ENTRY

Entrants are required to upload a voice recording or video by going to www.singitloud.blogspot.com and follow instructions to upload a sound or video clip of themselves singing the national anthem. All entries will be accessible on the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud blog.

The sound or video clip must be no longer than two (2) minutes and the file size of each video clip must be no more than 2MB. The clip may be submitted in one of the following formats: .mp3, .mpg, .mpeg, or .mp4.

In addition, entrants may also make an Interactive Voice Recording (IVR) sound entry by calling 0861 129253. By following the voice prompts, they will then be afforded the opportunity make an instant voice recording and leave their personal and contact details.

Entries may be submitted from 8am (GMT+2 hours) on 26 April 2010. The closing date and time for receipt of all entries is 6pm (GMT+2 hours) on 23 May 2010.

Only one entry per person is permitted. Entrants submitting more than the maximum number of entries permitted will invalidate all their entries and such entries will not be considered for the competition. Entries which are incomplete, incomprehensible or illegible, or received after the closing date and time, will not be considered.

Your entry will be moderated, and is subject to, but not limited to, the following restrictions and guidelines: Your entry must not contain any material which is in any way defamatory, obscene, unlawful, harmful, offensive or inappropriate, or infringes the rights of a third party, or may have the effect of being harassing, threatening, abusive or hateful or that otherwise degrades or intimidates an individual or group of individuals on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability. You agree not to advertise or promote third parties, or your own goods or services within your entry. Any such entry will be deemed inappropriate and will not be accepted. Where your entry fails to meet the eligibility criteria or otherwise fails to meet these terms and conditions, this will result in disqualification from the competition.

5. COST OF ENTRY

There is no charge for entries, although Internet access or IVR charges may apply.

6. SELECTION PROCESS

6.1. Selecting the shortlist:

All eligible entries uploaded on the Sing It Loud, Sing it Proud blog in accordance with instructions and by the closing date and time, will be reviewed and the production team will select a shortlist of a maximum of 50 entries from all eligible entries, based on but not limited to the following criteria: vocal performance, originality, accuracy of lyrics and personality.

The shortlisted entrants will then be contacted by the production team via their contact details they entered on the blog or via the IVR number 0861 129253.

6.2. Selecting the semi-finalists:

A judging panel made up of at least four judges will then select 20 semi-finalists from the shortlisted entrants based on the above criteria. Selection of the semi-finalists will be at sole discretion of the judging panel, whose decision will be final. The semi-finalists’ sound or video clip entry may, at the sole discretion of the promoter and/or production team, be featured on the website and/or the radio programme in whole or in part, and the semi-finalists may be required to participate in publicity activities.

6.3. Selecting the finalists:

Each of the clips of the 20 semi-finalists will feature on the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud blog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Zoopy, commencing 25 May 2010. The public may vote online for the semi-finalist they wish to win and become a finalist, by following the instructions on the blog, and their votes will be combined with those of the judges. The weighting of the voting is 60% public, 40% judges.

The public may vote only once for their favourite performer. Public voting commences at 8am (GMT+2 hours) on 25 May 2010, and closes at 6pm (GMT+2 hours) on 30 May 2010.

6.4. Selecting the winner:

The 10 semi-finalists with the highest combined public and judges’ scores will be adjudged the finalists of the competition, and this information posted as such on the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud blog at 8am (GMT+2 hours) on 31 May 2010, when public voting for the winner commences on the blog. The winner will be chosen solely by public voting.

Public voting for the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud competition winner will close at 6pm (GMT+2 hours) on 7 June 2010. The finalist with the highest number of votes will be adjudged the winner of Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud and recipient of the prize, which will be announced on the blog.

7. THE PRIZE

The winner will receive a cash prize of R35 000 and 2 tickets to the opening match of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ (South Africa vs Mexico), taking place at Soccer City on 11 June 2010.

The winner is responsible for all his/her travel and accommodation arrangements, as this is not included in the prize.

The winner of the Sing it Loud, Sing it Proud competition will be required to be available for various publicity activities, such as but not excluding interviews and singing opportunities.

The second-placed finalist will receive a cash prize of R10 000, and the third-placed finalist will receive a cash prize of R5 000.
